Acer Aspire One Netbook May Be First Android OS.
Acer plans to launch a version of Google Android Netbook in Aspire One in the third quarter of 2009. The device is the use of Intel Atom microprocessors , and the screen size is 10-inch. A similar Aspire One is currently available from Acer that use Microsoft Windows XP.
Android is a smartphone operating system developed by Google that aim to make communication and navigation easy, especially on Google sites such as YouTube and Google Maps. Most netBook now use Microsoft Windows XP.
The Acer Aspire One Netbook displayed during his press conference Tuesday at Computex were running a dual-boot system that allows users to switch between Android and Windows XP, but Wong said that the device goes on sale later this year will be another Android and Linux OS.
Acer is the first company to demonstrate a Netbook Android-based Intel Atom microprocessor. Other companies have shown Netbook Android with Qualcomm chips, Texas Instruments and Freescale Semiconductor who ARM processing cores. These devices offer better energy savings.
